Network Problems

  • Program access problems - The program works properly when accessed by network administrators, but not when students try to use it.

    Solution = All users must have full access privileges to the main folder for this program. The main folder is the one in which your program is installed. By default, it is named Essential Skills. Consult your network administrator for information about setting access privileges.

  • Loading problem - The program will not load, or the program does load but crashes later.

    Solution = It is possible that your computer has an outdated version of the Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ) installed. This program requires at least version 2.1 of the MRJ. To install the MRJ:

    § Insert your Program CD and open the folder called Java Install

    § Run the program called Install and follow the on screen instructions.

Error Messages

  • Error "System Error 2" - The system reports "Error - 2"

    Solution = The Macintosh Runtime for Java is not correctly installed.
    Reinstall the MRJ from the CD.
    To reinstall the MRJ:

    § Insert your Program CD and open the folder called Java Install

    § Run the program called Install and follow the on screen instructions.

  • Not enough access privileges to run this program - The system reports this message when you try to run the program with Macintosh Manager installed.

    Solution = In order to get Macintosh Manager to allow our programs to run on workstations, you need to upgrade to Macintosh Manager 1.4.1. Once installed, verify that the option "Enforce file security on Mac OS 9 workstation" is not checked.
