Macintosh Installation
All of our programs come on a dual platform CD-ROM that runs on a Windows PC or a Macintosh computer. A Single user license requires the installation CD in the CD-ROM in order to run. The Lab Pack and Site License versions of the software can be installed on multiple workstations or in one location on any kind of network server. By installing the software on a network server, all the student's marks will be stored in the same location.
Read To Succeed Series

Insert the Read To Succeed Series CD into the CD-ROM drive.

Double-click the CD-ROM icon on the Desktop. This will open the CD-ROM in a new Finder window.

Double-click on the Install package icon and follow the on-screen instructions.

When prompted, choose the hard drive on which the program is to be installed. By default, the software will install to the Essential Skills II located in the Applications folder on the selected drive. If neccessary, however the software can be installed into a different folder. Once the install location is selected, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

To run the program, open the folder where the software was installed. Inside this folder will be another folder called Read To Succeed OSX, which contains a Read To Succeed icon. Double-click on the Program Title icon to run the
Assessment Series

Insert the Assessment Series CD into the CD-ROM drive.

Double-click the CD-ROM icon on the Desktop. This will open the CD-ROM in a new Finder window. Open the OS 10.2 and up if you are running OSX or open OS 7.6.1 and up if you are running OS 9 and below.

Double-click on the Install icon and follow the on-screen instructions.

Basic Skills Series

Insert the Basic Skills Series CD into the CD-ROM drive.

If the ccontents of the CD do not appear automatically, Double-click the CD-ROM icon on the Desktop. This will open the CD-ROM in a new Finder window.

Double-click on the Install icon and follow the on-screen instructions.

When completed, double click on the MRJ Installer located in the Java Install folder on the CD.

To run the program, open the folder where the software was installed. By default this would be in the Essential Skills folder in your Macintosh HD. Double-click on the Program Title icon to run the software.
Note: You do not have to install the Java Runtime if you are sure that you have the Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ) version 2.0. This program is not compatible with MRJ version 2.0.
Registration
You will be prompted to enter a license number. Locate the license number on the sticker in your program package and type it into the space provided.
Note: For the character Ø, make sure you type the number zero, and not the letter "o".
Running the Program
When the installation is complete and you are ready to run the program:
Read to Succeed Series

The application files are installed in the Applications/Essential Skills II/Read To Succeed folder of your Macintosh HD by default.

Double click on the Read To Succeed icon to start students in a reading adventure, or Double click on the Marks Manager to create classes, students and view marks.
Assessment Series

The application files are installed in the Applications/Essential Skills II/Assessment folder of your Macintosh HD by default.

Double click on the Assessment Manager icon to assign and view test results, or Double click on the Student Assignments icon to start assigned tests.
Basic Skills Series

The application files are installed in the Essential Skills folder of your Macintosh HD by default.

Double click on the Program icon to run the program, the Marks Manager icon to setup students and view marks, or the Database Backup Utility to backup classes, students and marks.
Note: If you do not hear any sound while running the program then you need to install QuickTime. QuickTime is located in the QuickTime Install folder on the CD. This will install QuickTime version 4 on your computer.
Note: It is recommended that the video display be set to "Thousands of Colors" or "Millions of Colors".
